Working Student Program
REC's working student program is geared towards riders that are interested in pursuing a career with horses either in stable management, training or teaching.
Students will learn new skills by gaining practical hands on experience and will learn all aspects of horse care not to mention gain valuable work experience making them more employable in the equine industry.
Students must be hard working and determined with a desire to learn and succeed!
Currently 2 Full time working student positions are available from May to August - Longer Terms also available. Must have some horse experience and over the age of 17.
Applicants must be hard working, have the ability to work independently and be a team player.
Small stipend available to student capable of teaching lead line/beginner lessons.
Work 5 1/2 days per week in exchange you will get;
- Two riding lessons per week
- Outdoor board for your horse
- OR If you dont own your own horse the option of a half lease on one of our well schooled horses OR two additional lessons per week is also available.
- Coaching and Trailering to 4 Shows during the show season.
Opportunityto assist with training and exercising horses for the right candidate Opportunityto test for Equine Canada Rider Levels.
- Gain mentoring hours for EC Instructor and Coach 1 Requirements.
Opportunityto assist and teach beginner lessons for the right candidate.
Duties will include:
Daily Barn Chores, Feed, Turn Out, Muck Stalls, Sweep, Clean, Clean Water buckets & Water Troughs, Administer Medication and First Aid Treatment, Help Students Tack Up/Untack, Assist lessons, Teach Lesson, Groom & Tack Up Horses, Lunge, Assist Day Camp, Groom at Horse Shows, Travel to out of town competitions, Braiding.
